ABOUT US

How an historic building stole our hearts, enticed us to Margate and started a whirlwind journey.

The George & Heart House, located in the heart of Margate’s Old Town. A welcoming Bar and Restaurant with six individually designed rooms, a two bedroom suite and a hidden private courtyard garden.

This Coaching Inn with a spirited past is beaming with love and rustic charm. We hope you love it as much as we do.

“Most of our furniture is pre-loved with a new lease of life! It’s important for us to be creative and think of ways not to add more waste in the world.”

Lovingly restored by current owners Kelly and Dan who started the restorations in July 2019 and completed in July 2022, The George & Heart House proves to be popular with weekend visitors and lovingly embraced by the local community.

“There’s a special magic here in Margate, it’s free spirited, creative and accepting”.

“It’s important for us to use reclaimed or refashioned materials wherever possible. Most of the furniture is pre loved with a new lease of life! We wanted to be creative and think of ways not to add more waste in the world.”

With luxury and comfort at the heart of our design, the House offers a home away from home and a space as lovable as it is liveable.

With plush velvet armchairs, brass lamps and original Georgian floorboards the old feel for the place has been restored, with an extra touch of decadence perhaps!

The windows are wonky, the floors slope but its all part of the charm and makes for an unique experience.

Conveniently located a stones throw away from The Turner Contemporary, we are an 8 minute walk from the station and on the doorstep of Margate’s Old Town where you can delve into many vintage shops, boutiques, popular bars and restaurants.

Just moments from the seafront and sprawling coastlines of Margate’ sandy beaches you’ll have no excuse to miss the infamous Turner skies at sunset.

With Palm Bay, Broadstairs and Whitstable only a drive away, you’ll never be short of things to do in ‘the capital of British cool’.
